Doctor appointment and PICTURES

Hey Everyone,

We had our 32 week appointment yesterday and it was the best one yet! At our last ultrasound she was not cooperating and all they could see was the back of her head. THis time they were able to get us tons of facial pictures with the 4D scan and it was amazing. Here are the two best.

It was so amazing to see her so well formed and looking like an actual baby! (PS: My work people say she looks like me 🙂 🙂 )  They said she weighs about 4 lbs 8 oz, so slightly larger than the average but an appropriate size baby for someone of my size. I was worried she was getting to big (the main concern for babies with diabetic mothers). The doctor said what they are watching for is a baby that has a huge torso and a small head. Our little girl is proportional, and right on track to being in the 8 lb range.

We have another ultrasound in 4 weeks and at that point they will make the determination about birth options. If she is the appropriate size still proportional then they will let me go into labor naturally unless some other complication arises. If she is to big then we will schedule a c-section.

All in all it was a great appointment and really eased my mind. I worry that although I have been managing my blood sugars really well there will still be some sort of complication.

Other stuff: We are welcoming our new niece on March 2! And, congratulations to Matt and Beckie Munson and their new daughter Evelynn Grace!

32 weeks!

How far along? 32 weeks

Total weight gain: -39 lbs

Maternity clothes? I am officially out of my pre-pregnancy jeans. I got some little extenders though so I can still wear them!

Sleep: I would like to sleep all of the time. I am so tired!

Best moment this week: I saw a distinct shape move all of the way across my tummy. Maybe it was a heel.

Gender: GIRL!!!!

Labor Signs: Nope, hopefully my NST test tomorrow shows a quiet uterus

Belly Button in or out? In, but starting to feel tighter

What I miss: Feeling like my clothes fit

What I am looking forward to: My mom visiting in 2 weeks!

Weekly Wisdom: To tired this week:)

Milestones: Only 56 days to go! I am 80% done!

31 Weeks

How far along? 31 weeks

Total weight gain: -39.5 lbs

Maternity clothes? My maternity jeans are suddenly my new best friends 🙂

Sleep: I wish I could sleep all of the time. I am so tired!

Best moment this week: sleeping in last weekend!

Gender: GIRL!!!!

Labor Signs: No, although yesterday at my weekly non-stress test the nurse said do you feel like you are having contractions? I said no, and she said I had a cranky uterus. So it might have been a touch of Braxton-Hicks.

Belly Button in or out? In, but starting to feel tighter

What I miss: Having more energy.

What I am looking forward to: Our new niece who is arriving March 2, my mom visiting and finishing up the baby shopping!

Weekly Wisdom: Although you may have taken sex ed in school, don’t think you might not be a little surprised by your birth class. It is very different when the scenario applies directly to you!

Milestones: I am into the 30 week mark! And, baby is head down which is great! Hopefully she stays that way!

Quick update

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! Last week I flew up to Alaska earlier than I had planned because my Gramma had a stroke. We spent a couple of days in the hospital and the doctor told us that we were looking at the end. She was taken off all of her medication and put on comfort care with hospice. She was discharged back to the Pioneer home in Palmer to rest and be at home. Well, by Sunday (the day I left) she was looking much better! So, we have no idea what the status is. The doctor gave her a two week prognosis, but she seems to be feeling better each day.

On the baby side of things I am at 30 weeks as of yesterday! I am getting more and more excited as the days go on. 10 weeks seems like a long time to wait, but we have so much to do that I am sure it will fly by.

We started our birth prep class on Monday and it was an eye opener. Now, don’t get me wrong I have known the process of giving birth to a baby since sex ed way back when, but it is different when someone is telling you and you are thinking I HAVE TO DO THIS! At the break we went outside for some fresh air and I looked at Dan and said I don’t want to do this anymore. I know I can and I will, but there was a moment of panic at what is coming up. Dan, being the funny guy he is said “is it because shit just got real?” He can always make me laugh, but that is exactly what just happened. Up until now we have been planning decor, and what we will do after the baby arrives, not the actual birth process! Yikes.

Aside from the class I am starting weekly non-stress tests until 34 weeks, then I start doing them twice a week. I also have a 32 week ultrasound and a 36 week ultrasound.  All of it is just precautions taking with diabetic mothers, so nothing to worry about. I sort of like the non-stress test. I get to sit there for 30 minutes at least and listen to her heartbeat. It is great!

So, that is pretty much it. My brother and his girlfriend are having a planned c-section on March 2, so we are very excited to meet our new niece!
