Brielle’s Room

I meant to post this before I had the baby, but I never got around to it. So, here are a few pictures of the space we are using for Brielle’s room. It is a sitting area off of our bedroom.

After we got her home we realized she does not love sleeping in the crib. So we borrowed a bassinet from my brother and his girlfriend. We have it right next to our bed and she seems to like that better. Although I will admit after a middle of the night feeding she sometimes just stays in our bed with us.

So here are the pictures, I am pretty proud of how the room turned out. Not to babyish, but still fun.

This is a built in desk area that we are using for storage. The white boxes have all of her current clothes in them. The rest of her wardrobe is hanging in Dan's closet.

I love paper lanterns and I thought a couple pink ones in the corner brightened it up a bit.

This is our glider rocker, we purchased it before we knew if we were having a boy or girl. The blanket on the back was made by my mom. I also have a cool digital picture frame loaded with pics of friends and family.

All of the bedding in the crib was made by my mom and myself. I made the pinwheels for the wall and chose some pictures that mean a lot to Dan and I to hang on the wall. I really love how the room turned out!

First pediatrician appointment

Brielle is 1/2 oz away from her birth weight. So she is gaining weight at a perfect rate and now we can start letting her sleep more than 3 hours at a time.

I think we are getting the hang of things, although it is exhausting. I am still feeling a bit emotional, but I think it is getting better. I am feeling pretty good from the c-section, but I am suppose to take it easy for the next few weeks.

So, we are doing pretty well. I am going to be better about taking pictures and posting them!

She is here!

Well, as most of you know our gorgeous amazing daughter has arrived. She was born at 3:28AM on April 11. Her name is Brielle Charlotte Peterson and she is amazing!

The birth did not go as I had planned, but in the end it was fine. We checked in at 5AM on April 10 and started the induction process. They started with a pill that was suppose to help ripen my cervix. After 4 hours they started a pitocin drip that induced contractions. At first it was not bad at all and then suddenly the contractions became a lot worse. Since my pregnancy/birth was considered high risk I had to stay on the fetal monitor the entire time so I could either labor in bed or stand next to the bed. I stood ALOT. At about 4pm they came in and broke my water. This was the worst part of the whole process. It was painful and so uncomfortable. My OB was hoping this would speed things a long for me. At 5 they offered me a drug that was suppose to take the edge off and let me relax and hopefully rest a little and dilate more. I had 3 doses of it and it was amazing. It gave me the feeling of a bit to much wine and I was able to really relax.

After the relaxing drug they checked me and I was only dilated to 4 cm. Dr. Anton said I could have the epidural, and she thought I could go a few more  hours to see if anything changed. If not we would have to look at the c-section option. So, she said she would be back at 11PM to check. Between 7 and 11 there was a rush of pregnant people coming in the door. So, I did not see Dr. Anton till 230AM. At that point I was still at 4 , so we decided it was c-section time.

At 3AM we headed down to the c-section room and had our baby. I was so scared I just looked at Dan the entire time. The actual surgery was not to bad. When Brielle was born they took her away to be weighed and her blood sugar measured. She weighed 8lb 8oz and 21 inches long. Her blood sugar was a little low, so she had formula right away. After that her sugars were great for the next 24 hours so we did not have to have anything special done.

Anyway, I did not hold Brielle until about 2 hours after the surgery. I was so shaky from the drugs and the stress that I did not want to hold her. So my mom and Dan held her while I rested and then I finally held her and it was amazing! It is crazy to be so in love with someone.

Our hospital stay was great. The medical staff was amazing and helpful with all of our questions and concerns. Brielle seems to be a great sleeper during the day and then up all night. So both nights we were in the hospital the nurse offered to take her to the nursery for us to rest. It was hard to let her go, but we really needed the rest. So we had a good stay. Also, Dan and I were SO happy that my mom could be there with us while Brielle was born. She did not go into the c-section room since she gets squeamish. But it was so good for both of us to have her support during the labor. I am so thankful that Dan and my mom have such an amazing relationship and that he likes having her around as much as I do.

So, since we have been home we are getting into the swing of things. It has been difficult at nights when she does not want to sleep. But, all in all I think we are getting the hang of it. I have had some weird mood swings, lots of tears then totally happy. (if anyone else has experienced this let me know, sometimes I feel crazy!)

Also, I just want to say that my husband is AMAZING! He has been nothing but fabulous since the day we went to the hospital. He is fantastic with the baby and so helpful with my recovery. It is not like I expected less, but it is touching to see him bonding with our daughter. So now we have our little family and life is good!

39 Weeks!!!

How far along? 39 weeks

Total weight gain: -33 lbs

Maternity clothes? I am wearing whatever is still semi cute. Some maternity some not

Sleep: I am sleeping horribly! Bad dreams, discomfort.

Best moment this week: Finding out we are being induced this weekend

Gender: GIRL!!!!

Labor Signs: Lots of irregular contractions

Belly Button in or out? In but tight

What I miss: feeling cute in my clothes.

What I am looking forward to: HAVING THIS BABY!!!

Weekly Wisdom: Don’t jump to conclusions about what your birth will be. I was sure that I was going to have to have a c-section and my doctor was all for trying labor. So I am trying not to assume anything.

Milestones: A week from today we will be at home with our little girl (if all goes according to plan!)

8 days (part 2)

Actually at this point the most days I have is 4!!

If I do not go into labor by Saturday I will be induced! So, now I am just waiting for a final appointment time from my doctor! We are so excited!!

She did give us a few things we could do to try and speed labor up. So I am just going to spend this last 3 days getting ready and spending time with my mom. Who WILL get to be here for her granddaughters arrival!

8 Days (Part 1)

Well, we had our growth ultrasound this morning and the baby is estimated to weigh 8 lbs 12-14 oz. No small baby:) I am measuring right around 40 weeks.

The good news is that she is proportional, so it is not a diabetic reason for her size. It is purely genetic. We meet with my OB this afternoon to have my 39 week check up and HOPEFULLY come up with the next plan. I am trying not to get my hopes up but from everything I have read and heard from all of my doctors is that I will be delivered before my due date.

I will post again later today after our afternoon appointment.

11 Days

11 days until my due date and no baby! I am HOPING that after my appointment on Tuesday they will want to start an induction ASAP.

On the plus side it seems that the baby is dropping into place. Hopefully getting ready to be born!

We are having a pretty laid back weekend. I think we are going to head up to the Tulip Festival again.

Hope everyone has a great Easter!

13 days

Less than 2 weeks! I am getting so excited (even more than before).

My mom arrived Tuesday night, so that definitely makes time go by faster. She will be here for two weeks March 30-April 13 (hopefully baby will come). She will then be back April 27-May 9 and then back at the end of May for my baby shower. We are really fortunate she has the 2 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule.

Our doctor appointment Tuesday went well. He said that based on what he is seeing there is no reason not to try and normal birth. So hopefully that means no scheduled c-section. After the ultrasound next Tuesday morning we will meet with our regular OB and talk about our birth plan options.
